WINTER AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER....
Though there's no snow on the ground and it's been mostly raining and quite mild lately, winter is going to be making a comeback. There's been signs of colder air coming for a while, and the Climate Prediction Center has be highlighting the second and third week's in March for some colder conditions:
Before we get there, showers and storms will move through Sunday night into Monday morning:
Temperatures will still remain mild Monday afternoon:
Temperatures will start to go down for the rest of the week through the middle of the month. Here's the trends for Cedar Rapids for the next week and a half on the GFS:
And the Quad Cities:
There will be the chance for some accumulating snow on late Wednesday into Thursday - perhaps a bit of a wintry mix at times:
A low pressure system will move in on Friday and there will be the potential for snowfall/wintry mix, but highly dependent on the track of the storm:
There could be another storm early next week that brings more snow to the region.... bottom line is that we're turning colder and active as we head through March.
