WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?
We have some beautiful weather for the Memorial Day weekend. Saturday afternoon got toasty and we're going to continue to turn up the heat over the next several days.
Sunday will take us into the 80s under sunny skies:
For Memorial Day itself temperatures will be running about 10 degrees above normal:
We'll keep it going on Tuesday, getting close to the big 9-0 in many spots:
And then we get into the 90s on Wednesday:
The reason for the mild, fairly stagnant weather can be found in the upper levels of the atmosphere. That is where a blocking pattern, known as a 'Rex Block' is in place:
A Rex Block happens when high pressure is in place with a low pressure sitting to the south. They feed into each other, effectively trapping the high pressure in place and preventing it from moving.
There will be another high pressure system that builds in next week to continue the warm up:
This will also keep the jet stream - or storm track - to our north and west. This will lead to the organized storm systems to stay away from us. We haven't seen much rain over the last two and a half weeks and we won't see much for the next 5-6 days:
We'll take the dry, toasty weather for now but we'll need some rain eventually!
