WELCOME TO THE 80S....
Some impressive warmth has taken over the Upper Midwest where just a few days ago we had record cold and snow. Temperatures Saturday afternoon peaked in the 70s and 80s:
We did fall shy of records on Saturday, but this is the second day a lot of us have spent in the 80s in late October... running 20-25 degrees above normal! The last time there were back to back 80s this late in October was in 1963 with low 80s October 22-24th. We had three 80 degree days in row and have the chance to do that this weekend.
Temperatures will be close on Sunday afternoon:
Winds once again be strong and fire danger will be high once again. (Hopefully not reigniting the fire by Muscatine like it has for the last two days)
This is all coming in ahead of a strong cold front set to arrive late Sunday:
The Storm Prediction Center even has a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather outlined for parts of Iow tonight:
Gusty winds and hail will be the main concerns there and some showers and thunderstorms will be possible to the east of I-35 on Monday:
There will be the potential for more widespread rain with another storm system riding along the cold front on Tuesday:
This likely won't be a drought buster, but could be some beneficial rain for extremely dry areas:
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts....
