THE PARTY ENDS SOON...
A MESSAGE FROM TSWAILS
Dear weather friends, I'm asking for your help to raise funds for the time I invest in this site and its operational costs. So far it's been a struggle and donations are 60 percent less than at this point last year. I realize times are tough, and we are all feeling the pinch. That's a big reason why this is a no pay site. Many of you are daily visitors and make financial or personal decisions based on the information presented. The majority of you appreciate the honesty, accuracy, and knowledge that you gain. If you fall into any of those categories, I ask that you make a $20 dollar investment in what I feel is a unique and reliable product. That way, we can keep things rolling as they have for more than 12 years. The future is in your hands, and I hugely appreciate the generosity of those who have contributed. So again, if you find value in the site and see the effort that's put into it, please consider a minimal donation to support TSwails today. Thanks for your time and loyalty, TS
THE PARTY ENDS SOON...
While Saturday was a cooler day the recent warmth will be back with us Sunday. The last several days of January were incredibly mild! In fact, Cedar Rapids had four consecutive days at 50 degrees or warmer.
That's only the second time that's EVER happened during the month of January. The last time was back in 1981. Temperatures weren't as warm in the Quad Cities, but still well above normal:
A warm front lifting north Saturday night will lift temperatures back into the 50s on Sunday:
Clouds will be hanging around Monday but temperatures will remain mild:
A cold front moves through the region Monday and temperatures will drop Tuesday:
As Terry has mentioned in his recent posts, there are multiple signals pointing toward winter coming back. Colder air will be building in, and the pattern will be turning more active throughout the Midwest. Particularly the second week of February.
You can see much more cold (blue) in the upper level pattern and a lot more movement, indicating more systems moving through:
The Climate Prediction Center certainly corroborates this idea as well:
Enjoy the warm party while it lasts! We are on borrowed time. Rebecca Kopelman
