SEVERE STORM UPDATE...
Intense thunderstorms have developed along a strong thermal boundary stretched out across southern Iowa. The storms have developed and arrived sooner than expected thanks to a big push of westerly winds at the mid levels. These fast moving storms are capable of all severe modes including a couple brief tornado spin-ups within imbedded supercells. The big concern is strong damaging winds in the 60-80+ mph range. If you are in the path of these potentially destructive storms in SE Iowa and WC Illinois plan accordingly. The storms will exit SE Iowa by noon and will be out of my counties in WC Illinois in the early afternoon due to the fast movement. Most of the severe weather will likely remain near or south of I-80. Keep and eye to the sky, theses storms mean business. An enhanced level 3 risk of severe weather remains in effect for SPC.
