NEAR-RECORD WARMTH YET AGAIN....

Records have been broken three times since October started - twice for record warmth and once for record cold. Now warm air is building back in and temperatures will rise well above normal on Saturday - once again challenging records:

Record Highs for 10/20:

Burlington: 85° in 1979 Cedar Rapids: 84° in 1953 Dubuque: 82° in 1953 Moline: 84° in 1979

The warmth is coming ahead of an upper level system that moves through late Monday. Temperatures will still be warming Monday prior to the front and send temperatures up toward records again:

Record Highs for 10/21:

Burlington: 87° in 1899 Cedar Rapids: 85° in 1947 Dubuque: 86° in 1947 Moline: 86° in 1947

The average date of our last 80-degree day is around October 10th but the latest on record in Cedar Rapids is on October 31st and November 1st in the Quad Cities. So while this is abnormal and late-season warmth, it's not the latest that we've seen these mild temperatures.

The system moves through late Monday, bringing clouds but not much else...

Temperatures will be knocked back some on Tuesday:

With a cold front then moving through Wednesday - once again little to no precipitation:

That will knock temperatures back a bit closer to normal:

Temperatures are expected to remain above normal through the end of October:

Enjoy the warmth while it lasts!
