MORE STORMS THURSDAY...

A cold front will swing through today and bring additional showers and storms, some of which may be strong this afternoon and evening. Here's the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center with a 2 out of 5 risk in the region:

As of noon there's clouds blanketing the skies, but instability will continue to increase especially as the clouds clear:

Due to the ingredients in place, strong winds and hail are the primary threats with any additional storms. A tornado cannot be ruled out either, especially in far southeast Iowa into western Illinois.

That tornado threat may remain low depending on when storms develop. There's uncertainty, especially concerning when exactly clouds clear up. Storms may not fire up until after 8-9 pm, as shown by the HRRR:

Storms will then continue to congeal to the east with strong winds as they cross the Mississippi:

Wind gusts of 60-75 mph possible with hail up to golf balls in size. Storms will wind down overnight and there could be some isolated showers/storms Friday. The rest of the weekend will be dry and quiet!
