JANUARY JOSTLING...
Temperatures have been tumbling on Sunday, and we will settle into some arctic air to start the new week.
Highs will be in the teens both Monday and Tuesday, even with sunny skies. Lows will bottom out around zero on Tuesday morning:
Wind chills will be well below zero:
A ridge will then begin to build in, sending a little thaw to the Midwest:
That will help get temperatures into the 20s Wednesday and into the 30s (and above freezing!) on Thursday...
Temperatures will peak on Friday in the 40s:
But then arctic air invades the country once again as we head into the weekend...
Temperatures will end up well below normal and well below freezing and potentially near zero at times (even in the afternoons). Enjoy the few days of our thaw before we're back to the deep freeze. We'll be watching more chances for snow during the 19-24 timeframe, but there's not a lot of certainty in where exactly storms will track at this time.
