MY FUND RAISER CONTINUES....

Many of you are daily visitors and make financial or personal decisions based on the information presented. The majority of you appreciate the honesty, accuracy, and knowledge that you gain. If you fall into any of those categories, I ask that you make a $20 dollar investment in what I feel is a unique and reliable product. I'm still about $2,690 from my goal. The future is in your hands, and I hugely appreciate the generosity of those who have contributed. If you find value in the site and see the effort that's put into it, please consider a minimal donation. A WALK ON THE COLD SIDE...

Some patchy light snow continues to fall in spots, but for the most part, additional accumulations in any one location will be minimal, perhaps a dusting. Radar indicates a developing deformation band in northern Illinois that is moving away from my central counties. Another swath of snow in NE Iowa and Wisconsin should also remain north of the region. I think there is a good chance the Winter Weather Advisory in effect from the Quad Cities west and north will be cancelled early. In fact, the NWS just pulled the plug. Good riddance advisory.

This is where the bulk of the snow has fallen over the past 24 hours. Some 2-3 inch amounts have occurred in my far northern counties near HWY 20 and points north.

Before we get into the heart of the cold, there is one more snow system that looks to graze my SW counties Monday. The clipper will move on a SE trajectory, bringing a high ratio snow of 20:1. It will fluff up nicely even with minimal moisture content. Most of the accumulations (1-2 inches) will be south of a line from Des Moines to Burlington and on to Monmouth. Here's what is currently suggested Monday.

The EURO

The GFS

The next order of business is the cold air that will dominate the Midwest the remainder of the week. By Tuesday morning, the EURO has temperatures running 35 degrees below normal.

Lows of 5 below to 15 below are shown in my area Tuesday morning. If winds tail off enough by day break, it's entirely possible a few spots could hit -20 where deep snow cover of 5–10 inches exists in the north and west.

Wind chills of 25-35 below are also a possibility, along with an extreme cold warning.

In the Quad Cities, the EURO shows 6 consecutive mornings below zero, with the last Saturday morning, the 22nd.

You may also have noticed that February 25th, the meteogram above, shows highs spiking at 53 degrees! With the AO, EPO, NAO, and PNA all going positive there will be a notable thaw, I'm just not sure if we can get that warm until snow cover is gone. Either way, we are going to flip the ledger from cold to mild next weekend.

That's the latest and greatest for now. Time for me to go shovel the 2.5 inches of fresh snow in my driveway. Roll weather, and if you can spare a donation, I will see to it that it's money well spent....TS
