FROM SWEATERS TO TANK TOPS...
Saturday morning started off chilly across the Midwest behind a cold front that moved through on Friday. Temperatures were low enough for perhaps some areas of patchy frost.
Saturday was a beautiful day and Sunday will be as well... it will just be quite a bit warmer.
Temperatures will be about 10 degrees warmer compared to Saturday afternoon. This is because the cool, fall air is retreating an a big area of high pressure and warmth will build in the upper levels of the atmosphere:
That will lead to summery weather for several days into next week. In fact, temperatures will remain above normal for the next 7 to 10 days. Here's a look at the temperature trends for Cedar Rapids:

During much of the next seven days it will be sunny and dry, too. Here's a look the precipitation (or lack there of) through Wednesday:
There may be a storm system around the Thursday-Friday timeframe.. and we do need the rain! Until then it's back to summer!
