DRY AIR WINS OUT...

Ice and snow caused trouble just to our south in Missouri, Kansas, and parts of Illinois. Very heavy snow and blizzard conditions led to difficult travel on top of ice in the mix. Snow crept up to the Iowa/Missouri border, but wasn't able to get much further due to the dry air in place. Here's a look at the snowfall reports and totals:

Driving was treacherous with wind and snow - some totals topping 16-18"...

Meanwhile, Iowa and northern Illinois sat under clouds and the cold. Plain 'ol winter weather will persist with quiet, but cold conditions. The sun will be out Monday and temperatures will respond by climbing into the 20s:

There will be more clouds around Tuesday but it will be similar temperature wise:

A shot of arctic air will lead to slightly colder temperatures for the middle of the week. Here's a look at the temperature trend for the Quad Cities:

And Cedar Rapids:

Temperatures may briefly warm above freezing, but it seems like winter will be sticking around. There may be some light snow by the end of this week, but generally looking quiet in the short term.
