DESPITE ALL THAT...

I I NEED A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS...

THE FUTURE OF THE SITE DEPENDS ON YOU.

Hi everyone, as you know, TSwails.com is a no-pay site; we exist on voluntary subscriptions or personal donations. Every year I ask those of you who find value in the site to make the financial donation you feel is worthy. I'm suggesting $20.00, which is roughly a nickel a day. Less than 5% of my readers donate, so your gift is not only appreciated, it helps immensely. Your contribution, whatever you can swing, supports the content, infrastructure, and operational costs of TSwails.com.

It is important to note that your donation, whatever you can swing, supports the content, infrastructure, and operational costs of TSwails.com for the remainder of the year. Approaching our 13th year of operation, we've become one of the most in-depth, trusted, and informative weather sites in the Midwest. Without your loyalty and financial help, my dream would never have become a reality. As weather friends, you are considered a part of my family, and we can't thank you enough for putting your trust in us.

DESPITE ALL THAT...

Despite the snow that's fallen recently, it's still been a tough year for the white gold. Over the last week, there was just a bit of snow in the region:

That has added slightly to our seasonal totals. But we're still running well below normal for snow this winter:

The Quad Cities is sitting at the 10th least snowy winter to-date. The least snowy winter since 2003!

The snow total of 3.6", is a whopping 16.7" below normal for this point in the season.

In Cedar Rapids, the most recent snow has taken us just out of the top 20 least snowy winters:

7.6" is still nearly a foot below normal for this point in the season. Also, it's the least snowy since 2013.

Mild, quiet conditions will be in place to start the new week. A storm will move through the region on Friday, but there continues to be differences on precipitation types.

The Euro remains with all rain:

The GFS starts with rain, eventually transitioning to some light snow:

The pattern does seem to turn more active in the region heading into February. It's hard to say if it will be more rain or more wintry precipitation, but time will tell. The Climate Prediction Center show a trend towards above normal precipitation.

At least for now, it's up, up, and away on temperatures the next 7 days. Enjoy the thaw...
