DANGEROUS HEAT AHEAD...

Sunday was a nasty day with the air-you-can-wear type of humidity. The heat is being felt across the central part of the country. Here's a look at the temperatures from 4 pm Sunday:

The high heat will shift east as the ridge aloft (big high pressure, big blob of hot air) moves east Monday:

As a result there are Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings posted... these will likely run through Tuesday:

Temperatures will be rising through the 90s and could be challenging records Monday afternoon:

Humidity will be horribly high, with dew points well into the 70s. That will lead to dangerous heat indices:

Tuesday will be a repeat with temperatures near records once again, well into the 90s:

And those heat index values well into the triple digits again:

A cold front will move through late Tuesday into early Wednesday, leading to showers and a few storms:

The heat will back off some, but Wednesday will still be toasty:

As will Thursday:

Another front on Thursday will bring more rain:

And finally the relief....

Stay cool, and take it easy outside during the start of the week!
