MORE SNOW FOR THE NORTH TONIGHT...
Another batch of snow is headed for my northernmost counties tonight and early Wednesday. Latest indications are that 1-5" of fresh snow will fall generally near and north of HWY 20. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting tonight for these counties.
You can see the clouds increasing out west as the mid-level circulation gets organized out in South Dakota.
Snow is just beginning to show on the composite radar.
The latest snowfall forecasts from the models look like this.

The 12k NAM
The 3k NAM
The GFS
The HRRR
The biggest differences arise in the high res models such as the 3K NAM and HRRR developing some warm advection snows further south in parts of EC Iowa and NW Illinois, especially north of HWY 30. It doesn't last long as the forcing quickly moves north but there could be some 1/2 to 1" accumulations in that band between HWY 30 and HWY 20. Otherwise it is fair to say the heaviest snows will fall in southern Minnesota, NE Iowa, and southern Wisconsin later tonight and early Wednesday. Travel is going to be impacted in these areas.

Personally, I kind of like what the HRRR is showing for accumulations considering the depth of the cold air in place and am leaning more towards its solution. I'll put it up again as a guide for you fine folks in the north who get to do some shoveling and plowing. Early money for you plowheads! Here's to you.
