CHASE PIC OF THE DAY
THE GROVE INTO THE STORM CHASE PIC OF THE DAY
Sunday was a wild chase day around Lamar, Colorado. We raced after a couple of very stout supercells which produced some decent hail and excellent structure. One came so very close to touching down but pulled up at the last second. The whole group thought it was going to produce and we were a bit bummed when it spun off to the northeast leaving us thrilled but empty handed.
Today is another pretty good set up, especially for upslope tornadoes in northeast Colorado which can be very photogenic in this part of the country. SPC does have us in an enhanced risk area so we are targeting Sterling, Colorado later today.
So far the group is having a great time, getting along well, and optimistic that our elusive tornado will find us. We're trying! More to come. Roll weather...TS
PS.. If you are up in the Scotch Grove Monticello area stop in at the Grove bar and grill and enjoy some of the fine food and drinks. Tell them T. Swails sent you!
